Is it worth spending an extra $500 on getting the 16GB M1 Macbook Pro? Or is the 8GB Macbook Air the better value? I spent 5 months with these two laptops and I’m going to share my experience with you, tell you how each performed for various tasks, talk about the differences and then talk about which one is the best option. And I do have a new perspective to share.

When I compared the 8GB models of both laptops, the 7-core GPU #m1MacBookAir to the 8-Core GPU #m1MacBookPro, I didn’t find that the MacBook Pro gave enough of a performance boost for me to recommend most people spend the extra cash on it. Essentially, what #Apple did was take the M1 chips that only passed manufacturing QA for 7 of the 8 GPU cores, and rather than throwing them away and then increasing the cost of the devices, they offered a lower-end base model. But in reality, you’re just not going to notice a meaningful difference.
